Recent times we have witnessed a lot of global events which could be evidences that pointing towards increase in gender disparity which made me to have a deeper understanding on such topic. In this, for simplicity I'm broadly classifying genders as 'Binary' and 'Non-Binary' knowing that such classification is debatable in different contexts, respecting other non-biological aspects in such classifications. At present, out of overall world population 'Binary' constitutes approximate 98% with almost equal bifurcation within and 'Non-Binary' to approximate 2%. Restrictions in pre-natal sex determination in many countries might be contributing to these numbers. Prejudice about genders within our race is hard to forgo wherein all are equally embraced within our society by accepting the fact that we have to be diverse, be it in the case of thoughts or emotions.
Most highlighted point that echoes recently is that of a Male dominance. If we drill through to the history, it is often true that we had patriarchal society. Even there are stories in multiple mythologies which points out that wars were broken out in pursuit to display gender dominance. In olden days Men acted as the provider where in women contributed in terms of sustenance and care giving. These might be mostly due to the biological and behavioural traits of each gender. Fast forwarding to present, once system emerged it might have realized the importance of less dominant genders in keep long term harmony in society and to preserve continuity. Such imbalances might cause even our race go extinct if not controlled. Think of the scenario in which mostly male child are being preferred, considering ancient history.
Once we had a structure in Finance globally, all products and services started to monetize. Even the tasks/jobs that appeared demeaning till then, started to add value to the economy. Slowly most economies realized the importance of being all-gender inclusive. Societies that appeared orthodox started coming towards this trend. Still there are arguments on pay disparity, fair treatment and so on. Often the case is that external rewards are often tagged to financial markets. The more the value is added by someone should be paid more in a meritocratic way, with 'social/public service' being exception. That's the general thumb rule. For instance, many sectors like Fashion & Beauty, Public Relations, Real Estate Networking, Elementary Education, Social-Media Influencing, Human Resources etc favours higher pay/preference for women when compared to men. The pattern that is emerging is that men tend to be favoured in dynamic environments where in women excel as administrative roles over men that are more stable as they seem to be risk averse in comparison. Forcefully equating gender pay in case of sports and organizations, mandating gender ratio in hiring process etc paved way to many women aspiring to have higher ambitions than working at levels with lesser complexity. I could say, such initiates should be mandated with more stricter norms to be more effective, also to bring in fresh perspectives. An interesting fact is that, though this may appear more socialistic in nature, such reforms are happening more in capitalistic economies adding value in terms of GDP. Also, there are counter arguments be seen mentioning advantages of going back to older ways of patriarchy giving more value in terms of healthy family life. I would say a mix of both approaches are often required to be more effective in execution.
Recently there were multiple instances where in women leaders exiting from global stages siting lack of vision mostly due to dynamic geopolitical events that's happening across which appeared alarming. I could relate this to the maternal instincts which is only natural to be protective about themselves. Often the case is that all genders should play by their natural strengths and self-awareness of our limits are equally important. This itself make us more inclusive along with mutual respect for everyone regarding what each individual or group is capable to do. Upbringing might be influencing such factors as well. I often compare Western living vs lives in Africa and so on. In a broader sense all such arguments are similar in tone. What are the odds that a new-born in Africa realizes his/her potential against anyone in a far developed regions if we assume all are born equal? Same argument goes for genders as well, why can't all genders get same preference as everyone live and contribute to the society where in a particular gender alone can't survive. As we are more informed in modern day, all tend to seek equality in comparison or even a possibility of being equal appears only generic that we all should possess similar rights in living.
Now if we focus on 'Non-Binary', they might hold unbiased perspectives as they might have faced truly harsh conditions among all as them being minority in numbers. But we should come to a common ground in with everything is seen adding value collectively than individual/group survival skills. In most cases matters are taken the way as that of a competition driven by greed or ego makes it difficult to find synergies between genders. Should it be possible without sharing the fact that system is running the world so that our thoughts fall into place without imposing such facts or rules for governance. I believe I've mentioned this earlier as well, many of these gaps are among balance created by nature itself, pushing too hard against it might cause downstream consequences. Where-in, regional/ethnic disparities etc are system made to protect/hide itself from external world. All the geopolitical tensions we see now could be the consequences of such forceful disparities. All the advancements we make should be aligning with nature's way of things when we go down to basics. I am optimistic that once the global stage finds a balance in terms of resolving distresses that we face at present, the world will be in dire need of less dominating leaders as things will be more administrable as care takers/sustainers, where in enablers are no longer needed. I would place my bet on thought that it happens only when system reveals itself to the world. This is particularly concerning, because organically it could take decades, generations or even centuries to have such possibilities given the evolving changes happening across board now. Only then we will be sound enough to say we achieved gender parity at scale.
