'Green Energy' is one of the popular topics in discussion over Globe due to the assumed impact of Green Houses gases and climate changes associated with it. Many governments, organizations and individuals advocating strongly in favour highlights the need to think about it in scale, even net 'Carbon Neutral' is seen as goal set. Are we doing enough for it? Obviously developed countries have some advantages considering the costs associated with it. Still there could be forceful intervention from governments in terms of incentivizing such initiatives if newly born, enforcing policies like charging infrastructure mandate for parking facilities etc. Many new markets were created in terms of green energy considering the width of energy sector. Green hydrogen, Electric Mobility Solutions, Biomass, Biofuel, Solar, Wind etc constitutes major chunk of booming stocks and commodities market now. Even overtime these all might even coexist with previous generation energy sources creating separate markets as in catering different use cases. Initiatives like this can be incentivized for earlier adopters thought the means of tax benefits, subsidies etc where in non-green fuels can be added the weight of such incentives.
All these makes sense when considering the scenarios in developed and developing countries. About rest is the worrying part. Let's say in case of continent of Africa where in only about 40% of entire population has access to electricity. Meaning, close to 60% of population may not be even aware of electricity. They still burn woods or coal for day to day needs and lives the way early ancestors lived. Is this necessarily their fault or were they incapable to evolve towards modernity? I think of the continent as the supporter most wildlife in the planet and System might not be allowing such modernization considering the overall negative impact towards it. For such change to happen without affecting the wildlife and associated habitats is possible only by building the infrastructure ground up. Also, with the help of technology and finance from outside needless to say. Stronger frameworks should be created so that everyone adds to this cause in some way possible. Otherwise, all the advancements towards green initiatives will be nullified over the time.
It is said that Energy consumption increases up to 3% globally every year as per current consumption standards. Also, strange fact is that approximately 60% of energy is lost during production and transmission of energy. Overtime better processes might be figured out to resolve this. Often, if energy is produced at the lower levels of consumer chain many of these issues will be solved itself. If possible, why can't we all use solar or wind to power our houses, buildings etc rather than depending on centralized infrastructures. As the market expands it will reach even to remote places like Africa without much overhead. Even there are innovations like home wind mills. Such implementations allow consumer to credit excess electricity produced to utility-supplied power for monetary gains. Often the case is that we all wait for some entities like governments or organizations to do this for us.
